• 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 cup small-diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 pound shredded, cooked turkey meat
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes with juices
  • 1 (14-ounce) can black-eyed peas, with liquid
  • 1 (12-ounce) bottle of dark beer of choice
  • 2 cups turkey or chicken broth
  • 1/3 cup chopped green chiles
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup sour cream, for serving

Turkey & Black-Eyed Pea Chili

This is a super easy recipe that can be put together in just a few minutes! It needs to simmer for at least 30 minutes, but it’s also perfect for your slow cooker. This chili will warm up your soul on cold winter nights.

Makes 6 Servings



Add the oil to a Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the garlic and onion and saute until the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the tomato paste and cook for approximately 2 minutes more. When the tomato paste has been cooked and is starting to caramelize, add the chili powder, cumin, turkey, tomatoes, black-eyed peas, beer, broth, chiles, salt, and paprika. Stir and bring to a simmer over low heat.

Continue to simmer for approximately 30 minutes. Serve while hot with 1 to 2 tablespoons of sour cream per serving.
